Swedish Stone Massage SM 5-2001
***This is no longer offered as a service.  It is offered as a class.  See class page for a schedule.
Using Swedish massage techniques: Susan uses smooth hot stones in her hands while massaging the body. The client will be comforted by hot stones placed on each side of the spine, supporting the neck, one in each hand & stones warming the feet as well as a stone placed on each chakra for thermo therapy, relaxation and energy. You will receive better results with relaxation, improved circulation & movement of lymph fluids, relief of muscle tension, pain, stiffness and speeds all naturally occurring healing processes (especially due to injury or repetitive use). In isolated areas, deep tissue techniques are used with the stones incorporating slow strokes and deep pressure to promote recovery of painful, tight or injured muscles. Cool stones are worked into areas to reduce inflammation, increase oxygen absorption, carbon dioxide excretion along with increased nitrogen absorption and excretion, increased tissue tone, increased peripheral white and red blood cells count and a decrease in the blood glucose. Perfect for an active person for work on specific muscle groups and joints. Great for pre/post event.

Reiki Stone Therapy SM 1-2001 (Energetic Stone Healing)

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Force Energy, the energy that is all around us. A method of natural healing that uses energy channeled through a practitioner's hands to restore health and a sense Reiki Stoneof well-being. Similar to massage only the client is fully clothed; the therapist will begin with the placement of hot basalt and and/or cool marble stones for thermal therapeutic energy. Chakra stones or crystals will be placed on the chakras for opening & balance. This energy accelerates and enhances all naturally occurring healing processes: it relaxes tense muscles, speeds digestion, stabilizes blood pressure and blood sugar, calms a racing pulse, stimulates the immune system, relieves pain, insomnia and depression.  Be willing to let go and experience Divine Healing.  Brings Life Balance! Check out our class schedule for learning more about Reiki or become a Reiki Practitioner.

Reflexology Zones stimulate areas of the feet & hands that correspond to all the major organs, glands, body parts and chakras. foot reflexologyThis therapy reduces stress, improves circulation, helps cleanse body of toxins, revitalises energy and brings the whole body into balance. With the use of basalt and/or marble stones, the client will be placed on a massage table comforted by hot stones while the feet & hands receive acupressure with stones & oils. In a regular Acupressure Reflexology the client relaxes in a reclining chair while the therapists thumbs work the reflex points with essential oils & powder. Northern Thai Massage

This is a fully clothed therapy performed on a floor mat.  The receiver should wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes such as a cotton t-shirt and light cotton sweat pants or yoga pants. The practitioner uses her hands, arms, elbows, knees and feet to perform leaning pressure, reflexology acupressure working the energy lines (sen lines), Reiki energy work, assisted progressive stretching and some yoga postures.  This is why Thai massage is often called "lazy person's yoga" as someone else puts them through various postures. This rhythmic and meditative therapy allows one to enter into a state of deep relaxation as well as allowing any imbalance of energy to flow through and out of the body.  Most of the attention is focused on the legs.  Other areas include feet, abdominal work, arms & hands, face, neck, shoulders and back. Benefits: Increased flexibility, increased energy flow & circulation, relaxing nerve constriction, lymph stimulation, improve structural balance and to facilitate the release of emotional pain or blocked energy. Please note: The receiver should stretch before the treatment, be fairly flexible and should have eaten just before the session. This therapy can be adjusted to 1 hour but it is recommended to experience the full body 90 minute therapy (Therapy Prices Listed At Top Of Page)

Description Of Additonal Certified Techniques

Myofascial Release: Fascia is a tough connective tissue which spreads throughout the body in a 3 dimensional web. Myofascial Release is a hands on technique, which provides sustained pressure into restrictions to eliminate pain, headaches & restore motion as well as posture. Using cross-hand techniques or stretches, light pressure slowly stretches out the elastic component of the fascia. Soft Tissue Mobilization breaks up cross-restrictions. Certified Training from John F. Barnes.

CranioSacral Therapy: This light touch manual therapy, which is no more than the weight of a nickel, addresses restrictions in the CranioSacral system (the membranes & fluid that surround and protect the brain & spinal cord). This system extends from the bones of the skull (cranium) down to the sacrum. The therapist monitors the rhythm of the cerebrospinal fluid as it flows through the system, evaluating and opening any restrictions. CST can benefit those with headaches, TMJ, insomnia, fatigue, anxiety, stress-related dysfunctions, head & neck trauma, poor digestion and sensory disorders. Reiki is combined with this therapy as well as stone placement. Certified Training from John F. Barnes.

Repetitive Use Injury Therapy (RUIT): Techniques developed by Michael Young which were derived from a technique taught in Europe for years. The Muscle Release Technique SM is a unique injury therapy that combines compression, extension, movement through various planes of motion and breath work to give the therapist a tool to provide, in many cases, relief from pain for the client in one treatment. With the Muscle Release Technique SM scar tissue is broken up, the muscle is lengthened, muscle memory is restored and relief from pain starts immediately. This is very helpful for those suffering from chronic and acute soft tissue problems.

Aromatherapy: As oils are applied to the body, the hot stones open the skin's suderiferous glands giving the body a hot oil treatment that softens and nourishes the skin. Essential oils are used not only for the benefits of inhalation (aromatherapy), which has its most significant impact on mood, thoughts and emotions by altering hormone productions, brain chemistry, stress levels and general metabolism but also produces physical reactions when used medicinally. Some medicinal uses of essential oils during a therapy could include pain, inflammation, spasms, muscle cramps, headaches, nerve conditions, arthritis, poor circulation, removal of toxic accumulation, stiff joints, bruises, cell rejuvenator, soothe and heal burns. Oils also have antibacterial, anti fungal, antiseptic, antiviral, analgesic and immune-stimulating properties. Oils can also be used on each chakra to open the energy centers and balance the electrical field of the chakras for harmony and healing.

Rainessence Aroma TherapySM 12-2004: Specific oils are applied first to the feet. They are then applied on the spine and back area in a fingertip sweeping motion from the base of the spine continuing up to the hairline while working with the central nervous system. These oils soften and nourish the skin as well as bringing about structural and electrical alignment. The re-energizing therapy works at bringing balance and harmony to all layers of the body: physical, etheric, astral, mental and causal (the human energy field). These techniques are believed to have originated in Tibet thousands of years ago and were used by the Lakota and Hopi Indian Tribes. This therapy combines the application of essential oils, hot stones, massage techniques, meridian energy connection techniques and Reiki energy work.  Oils used in this technique: Grounding Energy Balancer (8 oil combination), Wild Oregano, Thyme, Basil, Cypress, Wintergreen or Birch, Peppermint, Marjoram, Purify (8 oil combination), Spiritual Peace (8 oil combination). The effects of the oils may continue to work in the body for 5 - 7 days. This technique can be combined with Foot Reflexology.  Check out our class schedule for learning more about essential oils.

Sounds of Healing:
By using vibrational sounds from crystal or Tibetan singing bowls or other sound instruments techniques, healing can be achieved by restoring the normal vibratory frequency of the disharmonious or dis-eased part of the body. When a specific sound or vibration are applied to chakras of the body, the chakra will open and balance itself forming a clear channel of energy. This can be added to your therapy or you can experience a full "sound bath" therapy. Check out our class schedule for learning more in our Sounds of Healing Workshop.

Flower Essences: These are liquid extracts of infused energy from the blossoms of flowers. This energetic imprint is used to address profound issues of emotional well-being, soul development and mind-body health. One or more flower essences can be used either from a stock bottle or a dosage bottle designed by the therapist. These can be taken orally under the tongue, applied to the body, added to a glass of water, used in bath water or in a room spray. Because this is a vibrational therapy that works through the human energy field, these can be used in conjunction with other therapies including prescribed medications. Dosage Bottle Blends can be purchased for $8.40 including sales tax.
